AniFab Film Festival Celebrates Animals in San Antonio

San Antonio’s animal lovers are in for a treat as the Animal is Fabula Film Festival returns, bringing over 30 compelling animal stories from around the globe to the historic 1,000-seat Woodlawn Theater. This special event, running November 28-29, celebrates animal welfare and advocacy right here in our community.

A Special Evening with Temple Grandin

One of the biggest draws for AniFab25 is “An Evening With Temple Grandin,” featuring one of the most influential voices in animal welfare. Temple Grandin will present her new documentary, *An Open Door*, followed by an engaging Q&A session. She will also be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award for her significant contributions to animal welfare.

Diverse Animal Stories on the Big Screen

The festival showcases a wide variety of animal stories, ensuring something for everyone. Attendees can look forward to animated series like *The Chosen Adventures*, starring child actor Romy Fay, who will be in attendance for a free screening. The films range from heartwarming tales to impactful documentaries, all designed to highlight the incredible bond between humans and animals. A notable highlight is Mye Hoang’s award-winning documentary, *25 Cats From Qatar*, which aims to raise awareness and build connections through powerful storytelling.

Supporting Local Animal Rescues

AniFab is more than just films; it’s a platform for advocacy and community support. The festival actively partners with more than half a dozen local animal rescue and welfare nonprofits, including the San Antonio Feral Cat Coalition. By showcasing their work and the stories of animals in need, the festival helps to build vital connections and increase awareness for these important organizations within our city.

Workshops and Community Dialogue

Beyond the film screenings, AniFab will host three workshops tailored for both aspiring filmmakers and dedicated dog lovers. A special community event, “Dogs of San Antonio – An Open Forum 2,” will be moderated by the San Antonio Current, providing a platform for discussions on local animal issues and initiatives.
